1. OFFICE OF THE REVENUE DIVISIONAL COMMISSIONER(N.D.) SAMBALPUR
This
office is situated 3 kms. from the nearest Railway Station and 2 kms. from the
Government Bus Stand of Sambalpur, exercising jurisdiction over 10 Revenue
districts, 25 Sub-Divisions, 95 Blocks,53 Tahasils. This office was established in the year 1948. The Revenue Divisional
Commissioner, who is a senior I.A.S. Officer, heads the office.
The office opened on 1.1.1948 and Sri N. Senapati, ICS was the first Chief Administrator and Special Commissioner of the year 1948.The last Chief Administrator and Special Commissioner was Shri B.Sivaraman,ICS during the year 1951.The first R.D.C. of Sambalpur was Sri A.K. Barren who took over charge on 2.5.1957 .
The present RDC of Sambalpur is Shri Jamil Ahmed Khan,IAS

OFFICE OF THE COLLECTOR AND DISTRICT MAGISTRATE.
This office was opened in the year 1850. During the Pre-Independence period 57 nos. of
officers were posted as Deputy Commissioner and Collectors. Dr Cadenheah was the
first preindependence Deputy Comminssioner and Collector during the year
1850-1851.And Mr. R.S.Swan was the last Deputy Comminssioner and Collector
during the preindependence period of 1946-1947. After
independence Sri B.S. Mohanty was the first Collector for the period from
Aug-1947 to Mar-1948. The office is functioning
in its own building since 20.5.1980. There are 3 nos. of Sub-Divisions and 9 nos. of Blocks, 4
no of Tahasils under the control of the Collector.
The main function of the Collector is the overall supervision of revenue collection, overall administration, maintaining law and order, implementation of all government sponsored programmes from time to time in the district.
The present Collector & District Magistrate of Sambalpur is Shri Hemanta Kumar Dash, OAS (S).

OFFICE OF THE D.I.G., NORTHERN RANGE.
The
office was established on 1.3.1948. It is situated 3 kms. from the nearest
Railway Station and 2 kms. from the Govt. Bus Stand. It exercises jurisdiction
over 33,637.78 sq. kms. having 8 revenue districts. It is headed by one
senior I.P.S. Officer designated as D.I.G. of Police, Northern Range.
The
office opened in the year 1946 and Sri M.G. Clerresi, I.P. was the first D.I.G.
The office is functioning in a portion of the R.D.C. building since 1946. The
function of the office is the overall supervision of crime control, maintenance
of law and order within the range.

OFFICE OF THE SUPERINTENDENT OF POLICE.
The
office of the Superintendent of Police is located near the Kuchery,3 kms. from the nearest
Railway Station and 2 kms. from the Govt. Bus Stand.It is functioning here since 14.4.1936. It exercises
jurisdiction over three Sub-Divisions of the district i.e .Sambalpur, Kuchinda and
Rairakhol. There are 19 Police Stations (including one Women Police Station), 10
Out Posts under his control.
The present SP of Sambalpur is Shri Asit Kumar Panigrahi,IPS

OFFICE OF THE DISTRICT JUDGE.
This office has been functioning here since 18.6.48. Initially it was operating in the the Red Court Building and now it is functioning in the original civil court building. It is located near the Kuchery,3 kms. from the nearest Railway Station and 2 kms. from the Govt. Bus Stand.
6. OFFICE OF THE DISTRICT RURAL DEVELOPMENT AGENCY
This office was opened during 1981-82 and prior to it was known as S.F.D.A. (Small Farmers Development Agency). This Agency is responsible for implementation of various Anti Poverty Programmes and employment organization sponsored by the Central and State Government. The Agency is headed by Collector as Chairman and Project Director as Secretary.
